This time of the year really sucks in Alabama, if it's not freezing cold, it's raining ! Every season we go through the same thing, last year we missed over 14 practices due to the rain and when we are able to get on the field, you can barely do anything because it's just a mud bowl. Today was adventurous for me, called Lacrossewear to make sure everyone's uniforms were on schedule to be shipped and found out that they were still cutting and screening them ! Two teams open up tomorrow night and my JV2 plays Mountain brook's JV2, not having new uniforms for a JV game is OK but opening night for varsity is a different story. I'm pretty PO'd about the missed date, I love Lacrossewear's stuff but their turn around of 6-8 weeks just doesn't work in an area like Alabama where we end registration Mid-January and start games at the end of February. Last year we ran into the same issue but uniforms arrived the morning of games so everything worked out, this year I asked them if they were sure they could make my deadline which the promised they would but now here we are, the day before opening day and I'm short a team's uni's. I've been using Harrow for our youth uniforms and girls uniforms and so far they have been right on schedule, they aren't as fancy as Lacrossewear's but at least they are in the hands of the coaches when they are expecting them !
Well, it was pouring all night, don't know how the field will look tomorrow, unless it is sunny first thing in the AM, we'll be in trouble. We are scheduled to practice Thursday, Friday and Saturday with our first game (scrimmage) against Franklin HS from Nashville of Sunday. Birmingham Southern wants to play my Magic City team Sunday afternoon and I'm trying to figure out how I can leave my JV game, get up to BSC, play for a bit and then get home, shower and make it downtown to take my daughter and her boy friend to see Motley Crue ! Yes, that's right, I'm going to see the Crue, last time my wife and I went was in the early 90's on the girls. girls, girls tour in Madison square garden. My daughter doesn't even know who Motley Crue is but her boy friend wanted to go to see Hinder so my wife and I agreed to chaperone. Well, another action packed weekend, at least I had tonight to relax for a change so I'm charged up, ready to roll !!
