One rivalry down, one to go

Getting ready for my games today but it's always nice to start the day knowing my old high school beat our long time county rival. Hoover plays our cross town rival Spain Park today, it's funny because Spain Park's colors are the same as Suffern's so I have even more reason to want to beat them ! Hoover has locked the #1 playoff seed and has already beaten Spain Park once during the regular season and twice during tournament play but in rivalry games, you never know what could happen. Anyway, here is what the local newspaper in New York had about my Raiders...

It sounds like Suffern has seen this act before.
Shane Warner ran into traffic and scored with five seconds left to give North Rockland a 12-11 win earlier this afternoon. It was basically the same play Danny Michella scored on last season. Yes, there were plenty of moving-pick complaints, but it’s a tough spot to blow a whistle.
“I knew they would be keying on me, but with 11 seconds to go I knew it was my responsibility to get the goal,” Warner said. “Passing was an option, but I knew finishing was the best thing. I saw a couple of guys open, but I let the shot go, and luckily, it went in.”

Kevin McNally had a breakout game for Suffern and scored with 22 seconds left to force the 11-11 tie. It was that kind of game. The Mounties are going to kick themselves after twice blowing a three-goal lead.
