Well, it's official, I'm an idiot. After I requested not to host the Alabama state championships at Hoover I was convinced that I wouldn't have to "worry" about anything. Well, got to the field to line at 7:30AM with Al Mauro and Dan Jordan, ran clocks, cleaned trash and finally got home about 8:45PM. So much for not worrying about anything. We had several great volunteers that made the event possible, two huge helps were my wife, Valerie and Jame Knickerehm who was still cleaning up water coolers when my wife and I took off at 8:30. Overall the day was great, we had some serious rain come through while my daughter was winning her state championship for the Lady Lizards but other than that, the weather was fine. If you didn't make it out to the games today, here are the results:
U9 Boys - Hoover Hawks won 7-2
U11 girls - Lady Lizards won 14-12
U11 Boys - Vestavia Lightning 18-2
U13 Boys - Vestavia Lightning 9-8
U15 Boys - Berry Warriors 9-8
U15 girls - Vestavia Lightning 9-8 OT
There were some great games, one of the best was the Warriors VS the Homewood Patriots. The game was clean, the coaches didn't complain to referees, kids didn't lose their cool, overall it was just a hard fought game that came down to the last second. The Homewood team lost with class and the Warriors won without disrespecting their opponent, it was real lacrosse, the way it should be. Well, I'll sleep well tonight, tomorrow Hoover JV plays at 1PM against Vestavia, Mountain Brook girls face Vestavia at 3PM and then the Hoover varsity boys square off against Mountain Brook at 5PM. Should be a great day of lacrosse, hope we get a turn out like we had today !

Hey Coach Cos
Saw the story on laxpower.
I am YHS ( 1988) and live in Atlanta where we are growing the sport like wildfire.
what year were you?
I actually went to North Rockland HS, class of '85. When I spoke to the reporter he asked where I grew up and I told him the Hudson valley region, I think he asked, "near Yorktown ?" and I told him we played Yorktown but I was from the other side of the river. Somehow he latched on to Yorktown.
